Meet the Executive Director
Dr. Oluwakayode (Kayode) C.V. Adebowale is The Executive Director of Blended Learning and Study Center and The President of Nigerian-based KEO Blended E-Learning Ltd., which also provides tutoring, college-prep, and career-prep services and programs through both online and blended learning modalities. Dr. Adebowale is also The Executive Director of Blended Learning Academy for S.T.E.M Study (BLASS) College- and Career- Prep Secondary School. Dr. Adebowale has a twenty-year experience teaching in K-12, higher education, and adult education settings. Dr. Adebowale has international experience delivering online instruction to students in North and South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa.
Dr. Adebowale received his PhD in Technology, Policy, and Innovation from Stony Brook University, New York. He served as a Visiting Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS); and was one of the Quality Matters Coordinator for The Center for Online Learning, Research and Service (COLRS). Dr. Adebowale helped the University with its quality initiative for online program evaluation, assessment, and review. He also worked with COLRS staff and Faculty Fellows to contribute to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning related to online and blended courses.
Dr. Adebowale also serves as a reviewer for The Computers & Education Journal and was a reviewer for The International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning (IRRODL) Journal. Dr. Adebowale has published articles (and focuses) on assessments and learning outcomes in online and blended learning; using learning analytics to create predictive models; and mitigating transactional and psychological distance in online environments by improving user experiences with online contents.
Dr. Adebowale and his colleagues from Stony Brook University’s Center for Korean Studies and Center for Japanese Studies were the recipients of the 2014 Open SUNY Innovative Instruction Technology Grant (IITG); and built the first Open online and blended Japanese and Korean courses for the State University of New York (SUNY) school system.
Dr. Adebowale also served on the committee that wrote and published the Virtual Learning Program rubric adopted by New York State Education Department (NYSED), Rhode Island, and Massachusetts State Education Agencies (SEAs). He also worked in NYSED Office of Educational Design and Technology to develop and implement K-12 online and blended learning policies, specifically Commissioner's Regulation 100.5(d)(10)--credit for online and blended courses; and also served as an evaluator of the Virtual (online and blended) Advanced Placement grant, and wrote some policy briefs for the NYSED Board of Regents.
Dr. Adebowale earned his Bachelor’s in Biology/Premed (Summa Cum Laude) from York College, New York; a Master of Science in Science Education from Queen’s College, New York; an MBA in Information Systems Management and Educational Leadership Certifications from Stony Brook University, New York.
